Are you a jewellery designer/maker wanting to start up a business in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter? If so, you may be interested in the Design Space Programme.
Design Space is a unique scheme funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Birmingham City Council. It gives free incubation space for up to 18 Designer Maker Jewellers. They share a fully equipped workshop and have office space with internet use and administrative facilities. Placements last up to 12 months and at the end of their time, the jewellers will become self-employed, running their brand new businesses. A package of business support is delivered to the fledgling businesses, and in addition, each business is linked with an industry mentor to help guide them and hone their business skills. The experience of sharing a workshop and similar goals is the essence of Design Space, providing an environment where innovative design can thrive. All that we ask in return is that you commit to self employment.
So if you want to become part of our designer maker community, then why not register your interest?
Closing date for receipt of applications will be 29th February 2012, with interviews scheduled to take place during March 2012. Successful applicants will commence placements on the 1st April 2012.
To register your interest, complete a Design Space enquiry form by visiting our website: www.birmingham.gov.uk/designspace, or alternatively call on 0121 551 9071.
