This annual competition organised by The British Jewellers’ Association and sponsored by The Jewellery Show at Spring Fair International and Cookson Precious Metals Ltd rewards British firms and individual designer makers producing cutting-edge designs to the highest standards. This year the award is for original, innovative and eye-catching design/s in silver to mark the BJAs 125th anniversary within the Associations Silver Collection.
CRITERIA FOR ENTRY
- Only designer jewellers and jewellery companies registered and operating within the UK may enter. You do NOT have to be exhibiting at The Jewellery Show 2011 or be a member of the BJA to take part.
- Entries must be designed and made in the UK.
- Mixed metal and mixed media is acceptable within the design however silver should be the predominate metal Cookson Precious Metals Ltd will sponsor ½ a kilo metal in sheet or wire form, either as standard silver, Britannia silver or "Reflections" tarnish resistant silver toward the winning design/s.
- Pieces do not necessarily need to have been created specifically for this competition however designs marketed prior to September 2011 are not eligible for entry.
- Winners must be prepared to make or have the item made for presentation to the Chairman at the BJA AGM during The Jewellery Show London on June 12th 2012.
JUDGING
Uniquely this competition will be judged by ‘the trade at large’ via the BJA website and on the BJA stand at The Jewellery Show (Hall 18 stand H35) where shortlisted designs will be displayed, as well as by invited jewellery retailers, designers and journalists. All will be looking for strong, fresh design ideas to mark 2012
THE PRIZES
The winner will receive:
- The winning design/s will become part of the prestigious BJA Silver Collection
- Coverage in the appropriate UK media
- £500 towards production costs
- Cookson Precious Metals Ltd will donate ½ a kilo of metal in sheet or wire form, either as standard silver, Britannia silver or "Reflections" tarnish resistant silver for production of the winning design/s
- The winners will receive £750 towards the cost of a stand at one of the following EMAP events : Jewellery Show London 2012 or Salon at Autumn Fair Birmingham or The Jewellery Show Birmingham 2013

RULES AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
- The judges' decision is final
- The organisers reserve the right to decline an entry without stating a reason
- The organisers cannot take responsibility for the late arrival of articles, articles lost in transit or broken on arrival
- Designs being entered need not have been created specially for this competition but must NOT have been available in the marketplace prior to September, 2011
- All designs need to be Hallmarked and include the additional Diamond Jubilee mark for 2012
- The BJA will pay £750 on receipt of the product
- A representative from the winning company, must be prepared to attend the BJA AGM and reception on June 12th 2012
- The prize is not negotiable and no cash equivalent will be offered in lieu of publicity advertorial or stand space discount.
